MILWAUKEE CHAPTER

SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, the Milwaukee Chapter takes part in two scholarships . . . EWISP, ASIST.  The scholarship programs are funded by the Milwaukee Chapter through an auction (either voice auction or silent) held each year, raffles and an annual bus trip to Chicago to go Christmas Shopping.

EWISP

The EWIŪ Scholarship Program (EWISP) is an arm of EWIŪ's Business/Career/Development Program, better known as B/C/DP.  The B/C/DP began in 1974 when Sears, Roebuck & Co. invited EWIŪ to become involved in a community project to enrage the development of careers in business among high school students.  For 15 years, the program was co-sponsored and funded by EWIŪ, Sears, Roebuck and Lanier Business Products.  It became fully funded and administered by EWIŪ in 1989 under the exempt status of the B/C/DP.  Today, it is known as the B/C/DP Program and encompasses a broad range of educational and philanthropic endeavors.  It is administered under strict compliance with IRS rules and governing a 501c3 organization.

This scholarship is recognized by Money magazine as one of the top 12 scholarships opportunities in the United States.  EWISP allows selected students to compete at both the EWIŪ Chapter and EWIŪ National levels for scholarships.

To date, the National EWISP program has awarded over $400,000 in scholarships to high school juniors from all over the United States and Canada.

The Milwaukee Chapter opens its annual competition in December to all high school juniors of public, private and parochial high schools in the five-county Southeastern Wisconsin area served by the Milwaukee Chapter including Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee and Sheboygan counties.

Each high school can nominate one junior student to compete (the student must be nominated by their school or teacher).  A packet provided by EWIŪ is completed by the student.  The packets are then turned over to our esteemed panel of judges who narrow the field down to 10 finalists.  Finalists are then invited to the EWISP Banquet where the first, second and third place winners are announced.  The Milwaukee Chapter awards $2,500 to the first place finalist, $1,500 to the 2nd place finalist and $1,000 to the 3rd place finalist.
